1 chuck roast of beef
2 tsp. ground hot pepper
2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 Tbsp. butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tbsp. flour
1 c. tomato sauce
1 c. beef broth
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 bay leaf
1 can whole tomatoes, undrained
Preparation

Pat roast dry with paper towel.
Rub with peppers and salt. Heat oil in pot over moderate heat. Brown roast on all sides.
