Prune Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    3 unbeaten eggs
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. cooked, pitted drained and diced prunes
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Sift together the first 7 ingredients and set aside.
    Put into a large bowl and blend the next 3 ingredients.
    Add prunes.
    Add alternately the buttermilk and the above flour mixture.
    Bake in 2 (9-inch) layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until cake springs back when punched.
    When cool, cut each layer in two with dental floss, making 4 layers and spread with the following mixture.
