Baked Sauerkraut Wirth - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. sauerkraut, washed and well drained
    1 lb. chopped tomatoes
    1 1/4 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
    4 slices lean bacon, cut in half
Preparation
    Spread sauerkraut in buttered 9 x 12-inch casserole dish. Cover with the tomatoes and juice and sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
    Arrange the bacon on top and bake at 300\u00b0 for 2 hours. Remove from oven and cut bacon in pieces and stir back into mixture.
    Bake 1 hour.
    Add water so mixture does not dry out. Serves 8.
