Vinegar Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 c. cold water
    3 Tbsp. flour
    5 Tbsp. vinegar (apple cider)
Preparation
    Mix sugar, egg yolks, salt, butter or margarine and flour (dissolve flour in a little water first) and the rest of the water and vinegar together.
    Cook over hot water, about 25 minutes. Cool a few minutes to luke warm.
    Pour filling into the unbaked pie crust and bake in 425\u00b0 oven until the pastry is nicely browned.
    Beat the egg whites, add a tablespoon of sugar per egg and flavor with lemon juice.
    Beat until the whites form a peak meringue.
    Brown lightly in a 325\u00b0 oven.
    The use of the meringue is optional.
