Ingredients

1 1/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
7 tsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/3 c. butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. hot water
Preparation

Combine 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt.
Blend in milk, melted butter and vanilla.
Beat until smooth.
Pour batter into an 8 x 8 x 2-inch or 9 x 9 x 2-inch square pan.
Combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar and 4 tablespoons cocoa; sprinkle over batter.
Pour hot water over top (do not stir).
Bake 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Let stand 15 minutes. Spoon sauce from bottom of pan over top.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
