Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. flour or cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 c. milk
    4 eggs
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut (about 1 1/3 c.)
Preparation
    In saucepan, combine sugar, flour or cornstarch and salt. Gradually stir in milk.
    Cook and stir the mixture until thickened and bubbly.
    Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more.
    Remove saucepan from heat.
    Separate eggs; set whites aside for meringue, if desired.
    Beat egg yolks slightly.
    Gradually stir 1 cup of hot mixture into yolks.
    Bring to a gentle boil for 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
    Add butter, vanilla and coconut.
