Date Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 box dates
    1 c. milk
    1 c. pecans
    1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
Preparation
    Cook milk, sugar and chopped dates until it forms a soft ball in cold water, stirring a few times while cooking to prevent burning.
    Let it set a few minutes, then add vanilla and beat until cool.
    Add pecans and continue to beat until very stiff. Pour onto a clean damp cloth and form a long roll.
    Let it stand until cold.
    Cut into slices of desired thickness with a sharp knife.
