Beef And Onion Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. boneless pot roast, cut into 1/2-inch slices
    2 Tbsp. butter
    6 onions, chopped
    1 tsp. flour
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 c. consomme
    1 can beer
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. thyme
    1 tsp. basil
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    In a large, heavy pot, heat butter.
    Add meat and cook until browned on both sides.
    Remove meat and set aside.
    Add onions to pan and cook until browned.
    Stir in flour and sugar and cook until browned.
    Stir in consomme and beer.
    Bring to boil.
