Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 extra large Spanish onions
    1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. self-rising corn meal
    1 Tbsp. onion powder
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. sugar
    2 c. milk
    1 egg, beaten
    vegetable oil
Preparation
    Peel onions.
    Cut into 1/2-inch slices and separate into rings.
    Set aside.
    Combine flour and next 6 ingredients.
    Beat with a wire whisk until mixture is smooth.
    Pour oil to a depth of 2 to 3 inches into a Dutch oven or heavy saucepan; heat to 375\u00b0. Dip onion rings in batter.
    Fry, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
    Drain on paper towels.
