15 Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. bean mix
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 qt. water
    ham, ham hock or ring of smoked sausage, chopped
    1 large chopped onion
    1 large can tomatoes
    1 tsp. chili powder
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 clove minced garlic
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash bean mix thoroughly; place in pot and cover with water and 2 tablespoons salt.
    Soak overnight.
    In the morning, drain and add 2 quarts water.
    Add ham, ham hock or sausage.
    Bring to boil.
    Simmer slowly for 2 1/2 hours.
    Add onion, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon juice, garlic and salt and pepper.
    Simmer slowly 30 minutes.
    A can of stewed tomatoes can be added instead of regular tomatoes (adds a special taste).
    Serve with salad and crackers or corn bread.
    Better the second day!
