Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter or shortening
    5 eggs
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter until fluffy; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add flavoring.
    Sift flour and salt together and fold into mixture.
    Bake in tube pan for 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
    This may be baked in 2 loaf pans.
    Serve plain or with ice cream, strawberries or peaches.
    Slices may be spread with butter and toasted under broiler.
