Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef chuck, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
    1 small can tomato sauce
    2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    6 diced carrots
    6 potatoes, cubed
    1 small can green peas
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 bay leaves
Preparation
    Flour meat cubes.
    Put in thick pan with 2 tablespoons fat and brown.
    Pour in liquid, cover tightly and cook over low heat until almost tender (about 1 1/2 hours).
    Add spices and raw vegetables; cook 30 to 45 minutes longer.
    Just before vegetables are tender, add the peas.
    Serves 6.
