Jam Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening or margarine
    1/3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. baking powder
    strawberry preserves
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.
    Add egg and beat.
    Sift flour, salt and baking powder; combine with first mixture and mix well.
    Form 1-inch balls on greased baking sheet.
    Flatten with teaspoon, making small indentations in center of each cookie. Fill with preserves.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes in moderate 325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0 oven.
    Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
