Sarah'S Bread And Butter Pickles * - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. cucumbers, thinly sliced
    4 medium onions, sliced thin
    2 green sweet peppers, sliced
    3 cloves garlic, sliced
    5 c. sugar
    1/3 c. coarse salt or 1/4 c. regular noniodized salt
    3 c. white vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, onions, pepper, garlic and salt.
    Mix well. Cover with ice cubes, let stand 2 to 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Mix spices, vinegar and sugar; pour over pickles and let come to a boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Place in jars and seal.
    Makes 8 pints.
