Corn Dogs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. frankfurters
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2/3 c. cornmeal
    3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. Stir in 3/4 cup cornmeal.
    Cut in 2 tablespoons shortening.
    Combine 1 slightly beaten egg with 3/4 cup milk and stir into the cornmeal mixture until blended.
    Insert wooden skewers into the ends of the franks and deep fry until golden brown.
    Drain on paper towel.
