Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. cucumbers, sliced
    2 lb. sliced onions
    3 c. vinegar
    1/3 c. canning salt
    2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. ginger
    2 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. peppercorns
Preparation
    Combine cucumber and onion slices in large bowl.
    Layer with salt; cover with ice cubes.
    Let stand 1 1/2 hours; drain and rinse.
    Place remaining ingredients in large pot; bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers and onions.
    Process 10 minutes in hot water canning bath.
