Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Heat shortening and molasses in a saucepan until shortening is melted.
Stir constantly.
Slowly pour this mixture over the eggs. Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Chill.
Roll to 1/16-inch thickness on a floured board or pastry cloth and cut with a 2-inch cookie cutter.
Place on a baking sheet.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes.
Dough may be frozen after sliced thin before baking.
Yield:
10 dozen.
