Ingredients

1/2 c. margarine, softened
3/4 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. water
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy. Blend in molasses and egg; beat well.
Combine flour, ginger, cinnamon and salt.
Dissolve baking soda in water.
Add flour and baking soda mixture alternately to margarine mixture; blend well after each addition.
Drop by tablespoons onto greased and floured baking sheets.
Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until done.
Remove from baking sheets and cool on wire racks.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
