Ice Water Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 medium-sized onions
    1 red pepper (hot)
    1 green pepper (sweet)
    1/3 c. salt
    3 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients in a large container and layer with salt and ice cubes.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Mix spices, sugar and vinegar.
    Bring to a boil.
    Pack in hot jars and seal.
