Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cornstarch
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 1/2 qt. water
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 or 3 drops yellow food coloring
sliced apples
Preparation

In large pan, combine top 6 ingredients.
Cook until bubbly thick.
Add lemon juice and food coloring.
Pack sliced apples into jars, leaving 1-inch headspace.
Pour syrup above apples in jars.
Boil in hot water bath for 20 minutes.
Makes 6 quarts.
