Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. milk

Preparation

Mix together meal and sugar.
Add onion, egg and milk stirring lightly.
Drop teaspoon of batter for each hush puppy into hot deep fat (360\u00b0), frying only a few at a time until golden brown; drain.
Makes 2 dozen.
