Southern Peach Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 unbaked 8-inch pastry shell
    1 (29 oz.) can cling peach slices, well drained
    28 caramels
    1/4 c. butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 c. nuts, chopped
    whipping cream, whipped (optional)
Preparation
    Melt caramels and butter in double boiler, stirring until smooth.
    Combine sugar, salt, vanilla and eggs.
    Gradually mix in caramel sauce and nuts.
    Turn peach slices into unbaked pie shell and cover with caramel mixture.
    Bake 40 to 50 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    Filling will firm as it cools.
    Serve with whipped cream if desired.
    This pie freezes nicely.
    Serves 8.
