Jelly Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
    Cream the shortening.
    Add sugar gradually. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine milk and vanilla. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture, then half of the milk.
    Repeat until all ingredients are added.
    Pour into prepared pans and bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Spread layers with favorite jam or jelly.
