Chinese Chews - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg yolks
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. chopped nuts
    3 egg whites
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored and add sugar gradually.
    Add the three dry ingredients which have been mixed together.
    Add vanilla and fold in dates and nuts.
    Fold in the 3 egg whites which have beaten stiff.
    Bake in a (9 x 13-inch) pan at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cut in squares when cool.
