Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/3 stick margarine
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. milk
1 (16 to 20 oz.) can cherries, drained and pitted (save liquid)
3/4 c. sugar
margarine
Preparation

Cream the sugar and margarine together. Add the next 3 ingredients.
Pour into a 9 x 9-inch greased baking dish.
Mix drained cherries and sugar.
Pour over batter in dish.
Dot with margarine and pour boiling cherry juice (add enough water to make 1 cup).
Bake 45 minutes at 400\u00b0.
Delicious with vanilla ice cream.
