Ingredients

1 c. solid shortening
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
4 eggs
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. rolled oats
3 c. all-purpose flour
2 large (12 oz. each) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate baking pieces
2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation

In large bowl, beat together on high speed the shortening, butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until thoroughly combined, about 5 minutes.
Then beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla and lemon juice.
In a bowl, stir together baking soda, salt, cinnamon, oats and flour.
Beat dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until well combined; mix in chocolate pieces and nuts.
For each cookie, drop approximately 1/4 cup dough on lightly greased baking sheet 3 inches apart.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 16 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
