Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 cucumbers, washed and sliced
    15 small white onions
    1 1/4 c. salt
    5 c. cider vinegar
    2 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    2 1/2 tsp. powdered ginger
    1 1/4 tsp. turmeric
    4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cover the cucumbers, onions and salt with water; let stand overnight, then drain.
    Put all ingredients except cucumbers and onions in pan and boil.
    Add cucumbers and onions; boil again. Pack in hot, sterilized jars.
    Makes 12 pints.
