Mulled Cider - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. fresh apple cider
    1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
    2 bay leaves
    2 cinnamon sticks
    1/2 tsp. whole cloves
    1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
    1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg
    peel of 1 orange or lemon
Preparation
    Combine all of the ingredients in a large pan.
    Bring to a boil, then simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
    Strain spices from mixture and discard.
    Return cider to pan and keep warm until ready to serve.
    (I use crock-pot to keep warm.)
