Southern Butter Mints - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. water
3 or 4 drops oil of peppermint
few drops red or green food coloring, if desired
Preparation

Cook sugar, butter and water together until when tested in water it builds a brittle \"castle\" in cup.
Pour on buttered marble slab immediately to remove heat quickly.
As soon as possible start pulling candy; add flavoring and coloring at this time.
Pull until white; then pull out in long strand and cut with scissors.
