Ingredients

4 c. white sugar
2 c. lard
8 c. flour
6 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. chopped nuts
vanilla
2 c. water
4 c. raisins
Preparation

Add water to raisins.
Simmer 5 minutes; cool.
Mix sugar and lard until fluffy; beat in eggs.
Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and nuts (optional) and mix.
Add vanilla and fold in raisins with water they were simmered in.
Drop and bake at 350\u00b0.
