Spareribs And Kraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. spareribs, cut in pieces
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 (1 lb. 11 oz.) can sauerkraut (3 1/2 c.)
    1 unpared, tart apple, chopped
    1 1/2 c. tomato juice
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    2 to 3 tsp. caraway seed (optional)
Preparation
    Season ribs with salt and pepper; put in Dutch oven.
    Brown well.
    Combine remaining ingredients; spoon over ribs.
    Simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, basting several times.
    Skim off fat. Add Stuffing Balls.
    Cook 15 minutes more.
    Yields 6 servings.
