Crackling Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. corn meal
    1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    1 c. finely cut up cracklings or crumbled crisp bacon
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add buttermilk and egg, stirring until it is well mixed.
    If cracklings are used, season with salt to taste and fold into mixture.
    Pour batter into a very hot, well-greased 8-inch skillet.
    Bake in a 450\u00b0 oven for 25 minutes.
