Sour Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 apples
    1 onion
    1/2 medium sized head cabbage
    2 c. water
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. butter
    salt and pepper
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
Preparation
    Chop onion and apple fine.
    Put in frying pan with shortening for 10 minutes.
    Add cabbage which has been shredded.
    Add water a little at a time to keep mixture steaming.
    Cook for 20 minutes. When it is tender, add sugar and vinegar.
    Before serving, add salt, pepper and butter.
