Rum Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1/2 tsp. lemon or vanilla
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    3 c. flour
    1/2 oz. rum extract
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and cream well.
    Add eggs; cream well.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add with buttermilk alternately, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Beat after each addition.
    Add flavorings.
    Bake in slightly greased and floured tube pan at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes, then decrease temperature to 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Let the cake remain in the pan for 5 minutes after removing from the oven.
