Bishop'S Nightcap - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 pt. Irish whiskey
    1/2 bottle red wine
    5/8 c. water
    2 oz. superfine sugar
    3 cloves
    1 sweet orange
    1 lemon
    cinnamon, nutmeg, mace and root ginger
Preparation
    Stick the cloves in the orange and roast in fireplace or bake in oven.
    Put small quantities of spices in a pan with water and boil.
    Heat the wine, but do not boil.
    Add sugar, juice and lemon.
    Leave on stove for 10 minutes.
    Strain and add nutmeg. Serve piping hot.
