Fork Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar.
    Beat in egg; add vanilla and blend well.
    Add dry ingredients and mix with creamed mixture. Form into balls the size of a walnut.
    Place on cookie sheet and press down with fork dipped in sugar.
    You can top with a half pecan or cherry if you wish.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
