Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1/2 lb. butter
5 eggs
2 c. jam
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. walnuts
1/4 c. flour
Preparation

Cream brown sugar and butter.
Add beaten eggs.
Add jam. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
Sift together flour, salt and spices.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk.
Dredge raisins and nuts in 1/4 cup flour and add to batter.
Pour into a well greased and floured tube pan.
Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 hours.
Place small tin of water on rack beside cake while baking to keep top from getting hard.
