Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small or 1/2 large head lettuce
    1 onion, peeled and sliced into rings
    1 cucumber, sliced
    1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
    1 (15 oz.) can English peas, drained
    1 c. shredded cheese
    2 c. mayonnaise
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. sour cream
Preparation
    Arrange in a salad bowl in layers, starting with lettuce, cucumber, onion, chestnuts, English peas and ending with cheese.
