Pickled Figs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. firm figs
    4 lb. sugar
    1 pt. vinegar
    1/3 c. whole cloves
    1 stick cinnamon
Preparation
    Leave stems on figs; wash and drain.
    Put spices, sugar and vinegar in large agate pot and
    boil for 20 minutes.
    Drop figs into boiling syrup and cut\toff
    heat.
    Cover
    with
    thin dish towel and let stand overnight.
