Cream Of Broccoli Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. broccoli (fresh or frozen)
    8 oz. butter or margarine
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 qt. chicken stock
    1 qt. half and half
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Clean and cut broccoli into small pieces.
    Steam until tender. Do not drain!
    Melt butter, then stir in flour to make a smooth paste.
    Stir in chicken stock and bring to a boil.
    Simmer until it thickens.
    Add broccoli and liquid, salt, pepper and half and half.
    Heat, but do not boil.
    Add cheese, if desired.
    This is a large recipe.
    Half is enough for a family meal.
