Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 to 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream together butter and sugar.
Blend in egg.
Sift all remaining ingredients, then add to other mixture.
Divide dough into 2 parts.
Chill 1 to 2 hours so it will be easy to handle. Roll dough over part at a time to 1/8-inch thickness and cut with cookie cutter.
Transfer to cookie sheet and bake in preheated oven at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
