Hamburger-Rice Skillet - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef or ground pork
    1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
    1 medium green pepper, coarsely chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 c. medium grain rice
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
    1/2 c. shredded American cheese or process cheese spread (optional)
Preparation
    In skillet, cook beef or pork, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is browned.
    Drain off fat.
    Add rice.
    Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes.
    Add undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, basil, 1 1/2 cups water and 1 teaspoon salt. Bring to boiling.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer 25 to 30 minutes or until rice is tender.
    Stir occasionally.
    Remove cover, if desired.
    Makes 6 servings.
