Bucket Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. chopped dates
    2 tsp. soda
    2 c. boiling water
    3 Tbsp. liquid shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    4 c. plain flour
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt (scant)
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Mix raisins, dates, soda and water; let cool.
    Cream sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Add vanilla, flour and salt.
    Blend and add pecans.
    Bake in 3 (1 pound) coffee cans or 6 (16 ounce) cans (sprayed with Pam) for 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
    Freezes nicely.
