Lemon Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    3 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    1 c. buttermilk
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1/8 tsp. salt
    3 c. flour
    5 egg whites
    2 Tbsp. lemon extract
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add soda to 1/2 cup buttermilk.
    Add salt to remaining 1/2 cup buttermilk.
    Add flour and buttermilk mixtures alternately.
