Country Oven Beef - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. chuck or lean beef, cut in cubes
    6 medium onions in quarters or halves
    6 carrots, sliced thin
    1/4 c. Minute tapioca
    1/4 c. seasoned bread crumbs
    2 (6 oz.) cans mushroom slices (or 1 1/2 c. fresh)
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    28 oz. can tomatoes
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1 clove minced garlic
    1 bay leaf
    3/4 c. dry red wine
Preparation
    Combine ingredients in a 6-quart Dutch oven in this order of layers:
    beef, onions, carrots, tapioca, bread crumbs, mushrooms, salt and pepper, tomatoes, basil and garlic, bay leaf and wine. Cook, covered, in a 300\u00b0 oven for 4 hours.
    Do not stir or disturb in any way.
    Great served over rice or noodles.
