Chinese Chews - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 heaping c. chopped dates
    confectioners sugar
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Beat in eggs, one at a time.
    Stir in flour, sifted with salt.
    Stir in vanilla, nuts and dates.
    Spread in greased 9 x 12-inch baking pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0. Cool.
    Cut into bars and sift confectioners sugar over all.
