Ingredients

2 c. milk
1 cake yeast
2 c. warm water
4 c. flour
1 c. Crisco or shortening
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. nutmeg
6 c. flour
Preparation

Mix first 4 ingredients together and let rise until it looks like a sponge, then add mixture of Crisco and sugar.
Beat together.
Add eggs and beat.
Add salt and nutmeg.
Add both mixtures together and stir.
Add flour in a large bowl and pour the ingredients in it.
Work like you would bread until dough is not sticky.
Cover and let double in bulk.
Pinch off hunks and roll flat about 1/4-inch.
Cut out doughnuts and let rise again.
Fry in oil.
