Ingredients

1 c. Dates, pitted and chopped
3/4 c. Warm Water
3/4 c. Sugar
1 c. Chopped Walnuts
1 c. Shortening
2 c. Brown Sugar
3 Eggs, well beaten
5 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening and brown sugar, add beaten eggs and mix well.
Sift the dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture.
Divide dough in half.
Roll out each half until 1/2 inch thick.
Spread each half with filling mixture and roll as for a jelly roll.
Chill in refrigerator overnight.
