Oatmeal Lemon-Cheese Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter flavored Crisco
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. lemon extract
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sliced almonds
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
    1 egg, separated
    2 tsp. grated lemon peel
    1 1/4 c. quick or old-fashioned oats
    1 egg
    sugar
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Combine shortening, cream cheese and 1 1/4 cups sugar in large bowl.
    Beat at medium speed until well blended.
    Beat in egg yolk, lemon extract and lemon peel.
    Combine flour, oats and salt.
    Stir into creamed mixture with spoon until blended.
    Drop rounded teaspoons of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
    Beat whole egg with reserved egg white. Brush over tops of cookies.
    Sprinkle lightly with sugar.
    Press almond slices lightly on top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
    Cook 2 minutes on cookie sheet before removing.
    Makes 6 dozen.
