Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small onion per jar
    1 dill head and stalk per jar
    1/4 tsp. alum per jar
    cucumbers
    2 qt. water
    1 1/2 qt. vinegar
    3/4 c. pickling salt
Preparation
    Put 1 small onion, 1 dill head and stalk plus 1/4 teaspoon alum in jars.
    Pack the cucumbers into jars (should be washed cucumbers).
    Mix water, vinegar and pickling salt.
    Place mixture on stove and stir until it boils.
    Pour over cucumbers and pressure until 5 pounds pressure is reached.
    Remove from heat.
    Let cure 5 weeks before opening jars.
